Bombay Sapphire Botanical Bar

is unique bar experience developed by internationally
renowned interior designer and Curator, Katie Lockhart.

The 2008 launch of the 'Botanical Bar' builds on the success of Bombay Sapphire's Blue Room Art Glass exhibitions in 2006 and 2007. This pop-up bar comprises of a collection of works from New Zealand artists and designers who have worked together to form a unique bar concept showcasing one-off design pieces, furniture and artwork featured within a functional bar environment.

While each commissioned artistic contribution reflects the elements of the Bombay Sapphire brand, the finished collection showcases a number of remarkable pieces that individually reflect each designer's unique style.

The works on show at the 'Botanical Bar' include a canvas by Billy Apple, a large scale light installation piece by David Trubridge, a bar by Simon James through to a bench by Birchwood Designs.

In addition, Auckland's Eon Design Centre has partnered with the Botanical Bar to bring New Zealand's best furniture design talent to the forefront. www.eon.co.nz

The Bombay Sapphire 'Botanical Bar' is open to the public between the 7th -15th August, serving original cocktails at the corner of Commerce St and Custom St and at the Fisher Gallery in Christchurch on the 28th and 29th August 2008 located at 134 Victoria St, Christchurch.

At the conclusion of the Christchurch event the showcase of commissioned works within the Botanical Bar will be auctioned by Webb's Auction House, with proceeds going to the Dowse Art Museum in Lower Hutt.
